The foundations of SEBBA go back to 1998 when Swift Engineering was asked by Theiss to supply a 789 body for its Burton Coal Project. In the years that followed, Swift Engineering continued to manufacture and repair truck bodies for Theiss and other companies. During this time it became apparent to a skilled team of engineers that truck bodies still had numerous issues which had not been addressed since the introduction of the first conventional body – namely, the excessive weight of the conventional bodies reduced payload capacities and increased material carry back as well as unnecessary accident damage. Through the extensive experience that was gained in repairing these standard OEM bodies, the skilled team at Swift Engineering understood what could be done to substantially improve on standard designs.
In 2007, the SEBBA brand was conceived as an acronym of Swift Engineering Bodies, Buckets and Attachments. An innovative design process led to the development of a new truck body range, the SEBBA “Dirt Boss” and SEBBA "Coal Boss". The bodies were designed by working through a series of numerical analysis procedures. After collecting data on OEM equipment to determine permissible payload and geometric constraints, as 3D solid model was developed using the unique and distinctive SEBBA blue print. The combination of experience gained from in-field stress measurements on both SEBBA and OEM designs, along with past finite analysis (FEA) of fabricated bodies, was used to refine the design prior to a comprehensive FEA. The modelling results were used to optimise and adjust plate thickness, weld details and place load bearing components where required. This led to a SEBBA truck body range with patented design features providing reduced body mass, increased strength, reduced carry back and hang-up, reduced spillage, reduced abrasive wear and reduced equipment damage. This has resulted in significant productivity benefits and substantial reductions in operational, capital and maintenance costs for the mine operators.
Continuous product improvement and development to reduce weight, while retaining strength and longevity, have evolved with the successive releases. Since their launch, both the SEBBA truck bodies and the patented lighter-weight SEBBA “Pit Boss” mass excavator bucket have gained a solid reputation in the mining industry as the SEBBA brand has become synonymous with innovation, strength and performance. True to SEBBA’s commitment to innovation, in addition to the continuous improvement of current products, considerable investment has been devoted to the research and development of other ancillary mining equipment that will increase productivity and reduce costs.
SEBBA truck bodies and excavator buckets already enjoy a considerable market presence in Australia and Indonesia with rapid expansion to other countries in progress. SEBBA products are available for all models of OEM trucks and excavators through Swift Group Mining Products and distributors.
